FAQ’s

How do I join?

You can join the club via Meet-up HERE. We post events there and can keep track of RSVP’s easily.

How much does it cost?

The LA Robotics Club is free and operates 100% on donations.

Where does the club meet?

We typically meet in Los Angeles, depending on the availability of locations. Once in a while we get invited to HackerSpace events, one being the monthly potluck at 23b Shop. We are currently located in El Segundo. More details are HERE.

Why do you meet so far away?

We strive to find places that are centrally located to the members that are most active. We also try to avoid areas that lack adequate parking. If you’d like to host us at your place, that would be great! We typically have 50+ members, most bring laptops and we usually meet anywhere from 2-6 hours, depending on what we’re doing. Build days are usually longer, whereas presentations can be as short as an hour. We also look for places that have Wi-Fi and would allow soldering if needed. (we have a portable ventilation unit)

Can I bring my kid?

Of course! Children are encouraged to come as long as they are accompanied by an adult (over 18). There have been exceptions made for teenagers once a rapport has been established. We will soon have projects aimed toward smaller children, teaching them to program and develop engineering skills as they will be the only one’s limber enough to throw the kill switch when the robots become self-aware and decide to… ya know.

Do I have to live in Los Angeles to become a member?

You can join the group from anywhere in the world. We plan to stream the meetings and upload videos, images and content that will be accessible to anyone for free. As you can see, we are a diverse group and operate with the mind that we can only grow to our fullest potential by attracting all kinds of moths to the flame.
